OVERVIEW

Miami Research Associates (MRA) is comprised of 32 board-certified physicians who are experts in treating a variety of diseases and conditions. MRA has more than 25 years experience in conducting pharmaceutical studies and specializes in Gastroenterology, Neurology, Sleep Medicine, Psychiatry, Women's Health, Nutrition, Rheumatology Endocrinology and Dermatology. MRA also has a core competent staff of coordinators, nurse practitioners, dietitians, physiologists and other allied healthcare professionals.

• Certified Endoscopy unit (Colonoscopy, Upper Endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy and Liver Biopsies)
• Gastrointestinal Lab (24 hour / pH monitoring)

• Radiology Department with Bone Densitometer & Ultrasound Unit
• Heart Station, including EKG’s, Echo-EKG, Treadmills, Holter Monitoring and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
• Complete Pulmonary Unit with Spirometry, Peak Flow Monitoring and Survey System Plus
• Certified Mammography Unit
• Secured Investigational Drug Storage Facilities
• Facilities for Provocative Meal Studies
• Facilities for Extended-Stay Pharmacokinetic Studies
• 18 bed sleep lab (EEG, Polysomnography studies)

Sleep Lab includes:

• Experienced Study Coordinators
• Expert psychometricians and raters for cognitive testing
• Fully equipped rooms for sleep studies including polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, and maintenance
  of wakefulness
• Shower facilities
• Certified Sleep Technicians
• ECG and EEG
• Laboratory with phlebotomy and on site processing
• Biomedically approved refrigeration equipment to store blood samples at a temp of minus 20 degress Celsius
• Pulse of oximetry
 

PHASE 1 UNIT

MRA’s new custom-built 32-bed Phase I Research Center offers our sponsors the ability to conduct reliable, safe, and efficient studies in a controlled environment. Capabilities include:

• 32 bed secure state-of-the-art facility
• Three dorm rooms configured for male and female privacy
• Three subject activity areas including a quiet reading room and computer room
• Dedicated monitor room with internet access
• Central nursing station

• Refrigerated centrifuge
